Welcome to EUCHEMSIL 2026

We warmly invite you to this biannual meeting of the molten salt and ionic liquid community. Our program aims to celebrate the rich diversity of science carried out across the liquid salt landscape, whether in high temperature molten salts, room temperature ionic liquids, deep eutectic solvents, water-in-salt electrolytes or anywhere in between.
These liquids find use across a huge breadth of applications, from mineral extraction and biomass valorisation to fourth generation nuclear power and advanced drug delivery. Meanwhile there remains much to uncover in terms of the liquid state structure and physical properties.
We hope you can join us to explore all these topics and more, while enjoying the beautiful, historic city of Cambridge.
Dr Ian McPherson, Loughborough University
MSILDG Secretary and Co-chair EUCHEMSIL 2026,
Dr Agi Brandt-Talbot, Imperial College
MSILDG Treasurer and Co-chair of EUCHEMSIL 2026
The RSC Molten Salts and Ionic Liquids Discussion Group (MSILDG) are pleased to host the 30th edition of the long running series of EUChemS conferences in this important field. Historically these meetings have been a focal point for discussion in the field of liquid salts, and we hope this one is no exception.

Organising Committee
EUCHEMSIL 2026 is organised by the Royal Society of Chemistry's Molten Salts and Ionic Liquids Discussion Group (MSILDG). The group has been active for over 5 decades and has a long history with the EUCHEMS meetings, having organised meetings previously in 1972 and 1988. The group exists for the advancement of work on molten salts, ionic liquids and related materials, and to foster and encourage the dissemination of chemical information by holding scientific meetings.
The organising committee consists of:
Prof. George Chen (MSILDG Chair, Scientific board chair)
University of Nottingham
Dr Ian McPherson (MSILDG Secretary, EUCHEMSIL co-chair)
Loughborough University
Dr Agi Brandt-Talbot (MSILDG Treasurer, EUCHEMSIL co-chair)
